Police must accept report

PENANG: Police per-sonnel who refuse to accept a report for what-ever reason will find themselves facing disci-plinary action. State police chief De-puty Comm Datuk Koh Hong Sun said it was their responsibility to accept a report regard-less where the incident occurred.
He said all policemen should know this proce-dure by now as it was not a new one, adding that the public could re-port the matter to the respective OCPD if they encountered problems when lodging a report.

DCP Koh was speaking to reporters after a dialogue with a state MCA Youth delegation led by its chief Ooi Chuan Aik and deputy Tan Teik Cheng.

Ooi said the two-hour dialogue was quite an eye-opener for the members as the police chief briefed them about the police's strategy to keep crime rate in check. “We are satisfied with the decision to in-crease police presence in busy areas such as shopping malls and tourist areas in Gurney Drive and Batu Ferringhi.”

DCP Koh said the police would look into ways on how to work with politicians to reduce the state’s crime rate.
